Many people are of the opinion that Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera is not to be held responsible for inciting communal violence, as per the enquiry conducted by ‘You Judge’.

Many were of opinion that the BBS Secretary General was doing what was right by standing up for Sinhalese-Buddhists and that arresting him was a crime.

“This is a Sinhala-Buddhist country, he is standing up for Sinhala-Buddhist,” they said. “If people like Rishard Bathiudeen are saying the things they are saying, then someone must stand up for the Sinhala Buddhists.

They further avowed it was a crime to arrest a Buddhist monk, “ This is a Buddhist country, he is a Buddhist monk, it’s not right to arrest him,” they said.
