President Maithripala Sirisena met with Chief Minsters of the nine provinces at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.
Issues that cropped up at the 33rd Chief Ministers Summit recently were discussed at length, the President’s Media Division reported.
Among these were the shortage of teachers, recruitment to the administrative services and the setting up of a day for the Cabinet of Ministers to call officers working in the provinces.
The President had emphasized the need for good rapport between the central government and provincial authorities in order expedite development and other work in the provinces.
Ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Vajira Abeywardena, Rajitha Senaratna and Faizer Musthapha had participated at the meeting.
