The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has decided to take disciplinary action against 15 Parliamentarians, including former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Informed sources said the Central Committee of the party made the decision, following lengthy discussions.
They added that the 15 Parliamentarians would be produced before a disciplinary committee.
The main allegations against the group is defying Central Committee orders by holding public rallies.
A senior party spokesman said the dissident group would be given a fair chance to respond to the allegations.
"A decision on their party membership would be made after the inquiry," he added.
