Fairly heavy falls about 100mm can be expected at some places - particularly in the Colombo, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Galle and Matara districts, the Meteorological Department said today.

It said showery conditions would continue in the Southwestern parts of the country with showers or thundershowers occurring at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Northwestern provinces, particularly in the morning and night.

The Meteorological Department said showers or thundershowers would also occur at several places in the Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.

It also warned there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers and requested the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning.
