Mohamed Mansoor has appointed as the General Secretary of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress .

Party leader Minister Rauff Hakeem speaking to media after a discussion with officials of the Elections Commission said the Commission accepted Mohamed Mansoor as the party General Secretary.

Minister further said there were rumours that there was an issue pertaining to the post of the party General Secretary adding legally the SLMC did not see a need to be wary.

The party leader stated officials of the Elections Commission listened to their reasoning and understood the party stance.

The issue rose following a conflict within the party over the post of party Secretary, the High Command convened to appoint individuals to the posts of General Secretary and Secretary.

Elections Commission informed the SLMC that a party cannot have a General Secretary and a Secretary.

Therefore Chairman of Elections Mahinda Deshapriya informed the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress to notify him of the individual who will be recognised as the legitimate Secretary.
