Trading, Information Technology And Telecoms Sectors Led Shares Lower Today

According to Investing.com Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Trading, Information Technology and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.27%.

The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 16.67% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.7000 at the close. Meanwhile, Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) added 15.55% or 7.40 points to end at 55.00 and Ceylon Tea Services PLC (CM:CTEA) was up 14.66% or 89.50 points to 700.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI), which fell 11.10% or 149.80 points to trade at 1200.00 at the close. Lanka ORIX Leasing Company PLC (CM:LOLC) declined 10.00% or 7.80 points to end at 70.20 and Gestetner of Ceylon PLC (CM:GEST) was down 8.33% or 10.00 points to 110.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 78 to 63 and 55 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.55% or 0.28 to $50.62 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.31% or 0.17 to hit $53.85 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.58% or 6.55 to trade at $1136.35 a troy ounce.

GBP/LKR was up 0.34% to 184.895, while USD/LKR rose 0.03% to 148.780.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 102.91.
