Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera yesterday emphasized that Sri Lanka was keen on entering into a free trade agreement with Malaysia.
He made this observation at the Sri Lanka - Malaysian business forum yesterday.
Samaraweera maintained that democracy has made headway in Sri Lanka after 2015 January. Democratic reforms would be entrenched in the new constitution, he added.
He added that reconciliation is imperative and therefore Sri Lanka co-sponsored a resolution at the UNHRC. The country is also in the process of devising transition of the justice mechanism, Samaraweera said.
A Sri Lankan delegation led by President Maithripala Sirisena is in Malaysia for a three day official visit.
