Sri Lanka Navy's swift action in bringing under control the tense situation that prevailed at the Hambantota Port due to a protest carried out by a group of port employees on Saturday (10th December) has helped to assure security and bring normalcy to Port operations, states navy media sources.
According to the navy, naval personnel have repaired the damages caused by saboteurs on generators, power supply system and have cleared all obstacles affecting equipment and machinery thereby reducing the potential loss of revenue to the country. Naval personnel have also assisted to load 1,086 cars and jeeps onboard the vehicles carrier, 'Glovis Phoenix' by Tuesday (13th December).
The South Korean ship which arrived in the country on Sunday (11th December) will leave the Hambantota Port today (14th December) with its cargo of vehicles to its next port of call in Durban, South Africa.
