A special dengue elimination programme has been implemented throughout the island with the help of all MoH offices.
They will carryout fumigation to eliminate mosquito menace. Members of three armed force, police, civil defence force and public health officials will also join this occasion.
The special dengue prevention programme continues today.
The main objective is to identify the mosquito breeding places and destroy them with the help of mosquito control Exterminators.
Ministry of health says dengue is spreading in many districts.
Particularly, the disease is prevalent in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Jaffna, Rathnapura, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Batticaloa and Ampara.
The Ministry states that leave from duty of health officers in 10 districts where the treat is high has been cancelled. A special circular has been issued in this regard.
Ministry stated that 25,000 rupee fine will be imposed on the people who run dengue mosquito breeding places.
74 deaths have been reported due to dengue this year.
