Former minister Basil Rajapaksa arrived in the US for his medical treatment, the Sri Lanka Podujana Party said.

Rajapaksa, who had been imposed several travel bans regarding cases in courts, was allowed to leave for the US for three months for his treatment.

Colombo High Court gave this permission in response to two different requests made by him over different cases.

Rajapaksa will return to the country after his treatment and will continue to work for the party, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna said.
