Former DIG K.L.M. Sarathchandra was granted bail today by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya over the alleged misuse of a jeep of the STF.

Sarathchandra was released on two sureties of Rs one million each.

He was remanded last week for the alleged misuse of a jeep of the STF, causing a loss of Rs 140,000 to the government.

However, he filed a motion today seeking bail on special circumstances including his health conditions. The police Special Investigations Unit also did not oppose to the granting of bail, and the Magistrate decided to grant bail.
