Newly constructed and opened South Asia’s first and only Green University in Pitipana, Homagama is scheduled to commence accepting students to the institution from today.

Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training Mahinda Samarasinghe stated that 8,000 students will be accepted to the university.

The University was declared open by President Maithripala Sirisena and is expected to be expanded in future in order to accommodate 30,000 students.

The university is the only institution of its nature in the South Asian region.

Grand total of 10 billion rupees was spent for the construction of the university that commenced in 2012.
