The Ministry of Mass Media and Information has announced that 500 officers have been appointed to state institutions to carry out duties under the Right to Information Act.

The Government Information Department states that steps have been taken to inform all government offices of the appointments.

Accordingly the government has begun appointing information officers to all Ministries, Departments, District Secretariats, Divisional Secretariats and Provincial Councils.
