The government today used the victory of Donald Trump in the 2016 US Presidential Election to insist that the media got it all wrong about both Trump and Mahendran.

Speaking to the media today, Minister Lakshman Kiriella said that Donald Trump won the election despite a strong campaign against him by the mainstream media.

Similarly, the media portrayed Arjuna Mahendran guilty whereas he was cleared by the Supreme Court and others, Kiriella said.

He insisted that the media is the same in both US and Sri Lanka and that the media cannot declare a person wrong.
