Sri Lanka has been identified as a Polio Free country by the World Health Organization, said Health Minister Rajitha Senrathne.
He state this today in Parliament answering a question for oral answers by JVP MP Sunil Handunneththi.
He further said that a new program was implemented in 2015 to eradicate Polio from the country. Rejecting the inability to inject Polio vaccine to the skin of infants aged 2 and 4 months, which is an internationally accepted method, the minister added that the health staffs have been trained to give injections and there have been no issue reported so far.
