US Election: Clinton Wins Dixville Notch By 2 Votes

November 08, 2016

Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton won the first result of the 2016 Presidential Election by defeating her Republican challenger for President Donald Trump by 2 votes.

While this does not matter in the final result so much since New Hampshire is a strong Democratic state and popular votes does not count, this is a symbolic occasion for the election.

Dixville Notch opened its polling station at midnight local time, the first place to open polling stations in the country today.

Eight votes were casted. The breakdown is given below.

Clinton (Dem) - 4

Trump (Rep) - 2

Gary Johnson (Libertarian) - 1

Mitt Romney - 1 (a write-in vote)
