Major General (Retired) Kamal Gunaratne stated that his idea of reconciliation is a process where both the north and the south are treated equally.
Speaking at a recent event, Gunaratne said he was not clear as to what the people of the north lacks, compared to what the people in the south have received.
He pointed out that if there was any discrimination to the Tamil people, a Tamil judge would be appointed as the Chief Justice of the country.
He said that Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran was wrong to demand the removal of the Director of Kilinochchi Hospital because she was Sinhalese. If Tamil people could hold office anywhere in the country, so can the Sinhalese people, Gunaratne said.
The demand from Wigneswaran is absurd since he was also a judge of the Supreme Court, based in Colombo, for years, Gunaratne said.
