Former Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga filed a Fundamental Rights application through a power of attorney requesting the Supreme Court to give an interim order against the interpol arrest warrant issued by the Fort Magistrate recently.

He also requested for an order to the Central Bank, preventing the freezing of his bank accounts.

Weeratunga has been named a suspect in an alleged financial fraud during the purchase of MiG-27 fighter jets in 2006.
