Northern Province Governor Reginald Cooray said that Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne should speak in a responsible manner when speaking about the 'Aava' gang in the north.
He made this observation as response to Senaratne's allegation that former Secretary of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the military was behind the creation of the gang.
Cooray said that there were similar gangs in the south as well. However, when such gangs operate in the north, many people take a totally different perspective, he said.
Cooray said that he received no evidence whatsoever to link the military with the 'Aava' gang. If Senaratne has such information, he should alert security officials or the Cabinet instead of making dubious statements to the media, Cooray said.
