Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, the new party formed under the leadership of Prof. G.L. Peiris, has invited former President Mahinda Rajapaksa for a discussion.

While the exact nature of the discussion remains unclear, it is thought that they will talk on future collaboration.

Peiris is a leading figure in the Joint Opposition and the new party is expected to be a vehicle of the movement.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Pakshaya is not a new party in the true sense. The Our Sri Lanka Freedom Front led by Wimal Geeganage was renamed under the leadership of Peiris as Sri Lanka Podujana Pakshaya.
