There is a high possibility for evening thundershowers over the island today (29) says Department of Meteorology.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m.

Showers will occur in Western province and in the Galle and Matara districts in the morning too. Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces during the morning.

Fairly heavy falls (about 75mm) are also likely at some places, particularly in the Eastern province.

Temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers are expected and public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
