The woman who was given a 'sentence' of a hundred lashes on the orders of a mosque in Puttalam has gone missing.

She had been reportedly raped and the Nallandaluwa Jumma Mosque gave her the punishment according to what they called 'Sharia' law. She later filed a case at Puttalam Magistrate's Court with the aid of a lawyer.

The woman later withdrew the case and the lawyer, through a motion, informed the court that her client did so due to an external influence. The Magistrate ordered the police to investigate the matter, when it has come to light that the woman is missing.
