President Maithripala Sirisena stresses that there is no need be anxious about national security.
He added that the government has taken a complete array of measures to enhance national security.
The president was speaking at the Ranaviru Wickrama Award Ceremony which was held at the BMICH today.
The security forces have been equipped with cutting edge knowledge and all other infrastructure. Hence, they are competent to protect national security. The President said that some media organizations and NGOs are spreading bogus propaganda in regard to security forces. He also stressed that country's national security should not be under estimated. The President emphasized that the commitment done by the war heroes would never be forgotten. The wage scale of the disabled war heroes has been taken into the account of budget 2017. A proposal has been included in the budget to provide monthly salary to the war heroes through out the life time. Wickrama awards were presented under five categories. Around 8,000 war heroes have been selected to be felicitated with the award.
