A gang named 'Aava' has assumed responsibility for the recent attack on two police intelligence officials in Chunnakam, Jaffna.

A handbill to this effect has been distributed in several parts of Jaffna last night. In this handbill, the 'Aava' gang claims that it carried out the attack in retaliation to the recent killing of two Jaffna University students.

The handbill has the images of the two students on top. In the middle of the handbill, there are photos of police motorbike teams.

The gang says that it will carry out further attacks on the police in future.
