The 61st anniversary of Sri Lanka Press Association will be celebrated under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena today at BMICH. 

The Press Association was established in 1955 under the leadership of Venerable Udakandawela Saranankara Thero. This was the first media association created for the benefit of newspaper journalists. Ten veteran journalists and media personnel will be felicitated at this function. A special memento will be presented to the members of the association who contribute immensely in writing books. 21 Indian journalists will also participate in this function. 

Minister of Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilaka, Deputy Minister Karunarathne Paranavithana and other high officials of the mass media sector will also participate in this function.
