Justice and Buddhasasana Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe hit out at National Movement for Social Justice Convener Sarath Wijesuriya, challenging him to an open TV debate.

He made this challenge during the 'Sangramaya' TV program on Swarnawahini last night.

Rajapakshe said that Wijesuriya has made two baseless comments on him. He has said that Rajapakshe will not let any one of the Rajapaksa family be arrested while he is Justice Minister. Also, Wijesuriya claimed that the judiciary will not be independent till he is the Justice Minister, Rajapakshe said.

The Justice Minister pointed out that Wijesuriya is now trying to portray himself as a champion of anti-corruption, although he was nowhere to be seen during the Rajapaksa era.

Rejecting these claims, Rajapakshe challenged Wijesuriya for an open debate where he will be given the opportunity to prove his claims.

Meanwhile, he will reveal who Wijesuriya is, Rajapakshe said.
