The Colombo Fraud Investigations Bureau informed the Fort Magistrate that they have sought the advice of the Attorney General in an investigation against Deputy Minister Manusha Nanayakkara over the display of a forged document.

The investigation is conducted over a complaint filed by Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera.

In August 2015, days before the general election, Nanayakkara allegedly displayed a false news item claiming it to be an article on 'The Hindu' during a TV debate in which Ajith P. Perera also took part. Perera complained to the IGP over display of a forged document and violation of election law. The IGP forwarded the matter to the Fraud Investigations Bureau.

Nanayakkara has since then joined the government.
