A three and a half hour daily power cut will be imposed from today due to repairs in the Norochcholai Power Plant, the Ministry of Power and Energy said.

However, the city of Colombo and the areas around hospitals will not be affected by the power cuts.

Power cuts lasting two and a half hours during the day and one hour during the night will be imposed from today. Accordingly the country will be divided into 4 zones for the power cuts.

The day time power cuts will be imposed between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and the night time power cut will take effect for one hour between 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Ministry said.
