The Royal Omani Naval Ship,‘Al Naasir’ arrived at the Port of Colombo yesterday morning (11) on a goodwill and replenishment visit.
Australian shipbuilder Austa has built this High Speed Support Vessel (HSSV) for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). This is the second of its kind in RNO. The vessels is used to support naval operations, including humanitarian, search and rescue, disaster relief operations, providing rapid deployment of military personnel and cargo, and helicopter operations. All-aluminium, 72-metre vessel was completed and delivered this year.
The ship was ceremonially welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on her arrival. The Omani vessel is scheduled to depart from Colombo Harbour on 13th October 2016.
