Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine has focused attention on introducing a colour code for sweets as well.  The minister had made this disclosure at a meeting held with the association of sweets manufacturers at his ministry recently.  He stated that this measure will be taken in order to prevent non epidemic diseases.

 A colour code system was introduced for soft drinks with effect from first of August.  Therefore, displaying a colour code in soft drink bottles has been made compulsory.  The relevant laws with regard to the introduction of colour codes for sweets will be announced through a gazette in the near 

future.  He requested the association to discuss any matter pertaining to the issued with the food advisory board.
