Former Rakna Lanka Chairman Major General (retired) Palith Fernando was allowed to travel abroad for a week from October 24 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya.
He requested permission to travel to Doha, Qatar, for a seminar.
His passport has been impounded over two cases involving the Avant-Garde Maritime Services and Rakna Araksha Lanka companies. He and Avant-Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi are involved in a bribery case. Meanwhile, eight people including Fernando are involved in a corruption case regarding the AvantGarde company.
