Lakshman Kiriella, Minister of Higher Education and Highway says construction of the Mirigama - Kurunegala segment of central express way is to be completed within two and half years. 

It will cover a distance of 39.7 kilometres. The construction work began at the Boyawalana Junction in Giriulla recently. The work on the Central Expressway is being carried out under four stages. 

Work is now proceeding on the first stage from Kadawatha to Mirigama.
