UPFA MP Jayantha Samaraweera and Wimal Weerawansa's brother Sarath Weerawansa were further remanded till October 24 for alleged misuse of state vehicles during the government of Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The orders on their bail applications were set for that date.
They also informed that they have filed Fundamental Rights petitions in the Supreme Court against the arrest by the FCID and said that the documents on the petitions will be presented to the Magistrate's Court for consideration in the bail applications. The Magistrate ordered the documents pertaining to these petitions to be forwarded before October 13.
Samaraweera is accused of causing the loss of Rs 534,000 to the government while he was the Chairman of Housing Development Authority. Sarath Weerawansa is accused of causing a loss of Rs 10.5 million to the state by accepting rental for two vehicles of the Presidential Secretariat and the Ministry of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities.
