Minister of National Co-existence, Dialogue and Official Languages Mano Ganesan hit out at former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, claiming that the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR), which is headed by her, is interfering in the work of his ministry.
Speaking to a vernacular newspaper, Ganesan said that there was no need for a separate ONUR when his ministry is adequate to promote national reconciliation.
Ganesan said that he will not be prepared to sit idly as Kumaranatunga interferes with his work. He said that he will discuss the matter with the President and added that he is prepared to resign from his ministerial post if necessary.
