Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa's attorney, President's Counsel Jayantha Weerasinghe, informed Pugoda Magistrate's Court that the land in Malwana allegedly belonging to Rajapaksa was actually not owned by him.

Basil Rajapaksa appeared before court on notice today.

Another witness in the case, Muditha Jayakodi, said that he also does not own the land.

The government counsels then requested the Magistrate to order the land to be sold and its income to be credited to the government.

The Pugoda Magistrate reserved the order on this matter to October 14.
