Former Secretary of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa today said that he never ordered intelligence officers to follow politicians and his instructions were always to follow terrorists who threaten national security.

He made this observation at an event in Weligama to felicitate pre-school teachers.

He claimed that the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna was unable attend the event because questions had been asked as to why the Vice Chancellor was attending an event where he was present.

If national intelligence personnel follow him, it is a regretful situation, Rajapaksa said. He said that he would gladly give his daily timetable so that they would not have to waste their effort in following him.
