Former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran's son-in-law Arjun Aloysius did businesses with Namal Rajapaksa until 'January 7', Co-Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said yesterday.
He made this claim at the weekly cabinet press briefing, when questions were raised on the extraordinary profits earned by Perpetual Treasuries, a company linked to Aloysius, in the year 2015.
There is wide speculation that Perpetual Treasuries earned huge profits through the alleged bond scam at Central Bank in 2015.
Senaratne said that investigations have to be launched as to when these said profits were made. Aloysius did business with Namal Rajapaksa before the fall of the former government, he said.
Despite Senaratne's claims, reports suggested that the Perpetual Treasuries had earned extraordinary profits in 2015, after the fall of the Rajapaksa government. It was said that the Perpetual Treasuries profits soared by over 400 percent in 2015.
