The CID and officials of the Colombo JMO's office inspected SAITM in Malabe in search of body parts of Wasim Thajudeen, which had allegedly been removed there several years back.
It was recently revealed in open court that some body parts had been removed to SAITM when Dr. Ananda Samarasekara was the Colombo JMO.
Samarasekara is the current Vice Chancellor of SAITM.
The CID uncovered that Thajudeen's body parts which had been brought to the JMO office had disappeared. Samarasekara opposed the claim that these body parts disappeared when he was in office.
Thajudeen died in May 2012 in what was then described as an accident. The CID relaunched investigations into his death after January 2015 and his death is now considered to be a murder. There were discrepancies between the first post mortem by Samarasekara and a second post mortem carried out later in 2015.
