Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran has informed authorities that he will be attending the closing ceremony of the 42nd National Sports Festival held in Jaffna this afternoon.

President Maithripala Sirisena and Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan are expected to attend the ceremony.

Wigneswaran boycotted the opening ceremony held a few days ago. He has been in the receiving end of severe criticism after the protest held in Jaffna demanding to the removal of Buddhist temples in the north and to end "Sinhalese colonization."
