Today (01) is International Day of Older which is celebrated parallel to World Children's Day.

Ministry of Social Empowerment and Welfare stated that this year’s theme for National Day of Older will be ‘Country protecting rights of elderly’. 

Today, the national celebration for Day of Older held at new hall in National Institute of Co-operative Development, Polgolla with participation of Sarath Amunugama, Minister of Special Assignment as the chief guest. 

National flag week to commemorate National Day of Older will be held up to 7th of October starting from today according to the ministry.
