The Sri Lankan delegation led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe who is engaged in a three day official visit to New Zealand arrived at the Auckland International Airport today morning. They were welcomed by the New Zealand Minister for Primary Industries Nathan Guy.
Sri Lankan High Commissioner to New Zealand Somasundaram Skandakumar was also present on the occasion. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe is engaged in a visit to New Zealand according to an invitation extended by Prime Minister John Key.
Meanwhile Radio New Zealand reported that Prime Minister John Key is being urged to make strong statements about human rights when he meets the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe.
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister is to hold formal talks with Mr Key at Government House in Auckland on tomorrow morning, before a joint news conference just before midday.
He will also go to the Auckland Zoo to visit the two elephants gifted to New Zealand by Sri Lanka.
