UPFA MP and National Freedom Front member Jayantha Samaraweera said that the government was finalizing the Economic and Trade Cooporation Agreement to sell off Sri Lanka's service economy to India.
Speaking to the media at a protest organized by the NFF against the agreement, he said that the government was threatening the jobs of millions of youth and professionals and opening up Sri Lanka's job market to Indians.
India's State Minister of Commerce and Industry Nirmala Seetharaman arrived in Sri Lanka recently to finalize the agreement, Samaraweera also said. He called on the government to refrain from signing the agreement, and warned that the NFF will continue to protest against it.
Meanwhile, NFF Spokesman Mohomad Muzammil also spoke to the media, saying that the government was penalizing war heroes for the duty they rendered to the country while selling off the country to India through the ETCA.
