Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rakapaksa recently said that more professionals should be involved in both public service and politics.

Speaking at a recent meeting, Rajapaksa said that professionals are involved by political parties only before elections. After the election, the professional meetings with politicians are forgotten, he added.

He said that in a future government, professionals will be given considerable responsibility.
