Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake says the public private partnership will be sought for the infrastructure development in the future. He added that it is aim to attract more foreign investors.
The government will be able to save capital expenditure by entrusting some mega scale infrastructure projects to the foreign investors and the private sector. The Minister was speaking at a summit held in Colombo which was organized by the USAID.
The former government did not adopt the strategy. The Minister said that as a result of the bad policy decisions of the previous regime, the Treasury had to bear the burden. Most of the projects carried out by the previous government would not give any economic advantage to the country.
The Minister said that the present government has also changed the tender procedure.
