Director General of Department of Meteorology Lalith Chandrapala says the inter-monsoon weather pattern will commence after 10th of next month.

Therefore rains can be expected throughout the island subsequently afterwards, he said.

The main reason for the prevailing dry weather condition is not receiving the rains expected from the South western monsoon weather pattern, he also said.

Several districts including Hambanthota, Moneragala, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura have been severely affected from the drought.
