Pivithuru Hela Urumaya General Secretary Udaya Gammanpila today challenged the FCID to arrest Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran for misuse of state properties, which he said was an unbailable offense.
Speaking at a press conference at the PHU headquarters, Gammanpila said that the Chief Minister invited people for the protest 'Tamil People Arise' on Saturday in his official letter heads and using his official seal.
However, it was a political protest with a separatist agenda and also was based on unconstitutional demands, Gammanpila said, adding that Wigneswaran cannot demand Sinhalese people to leave the north when the constitution has guaranteed the fundamental right of a Sri Lankan to live in which ever area, irrespective of his race or religion.
Therefore, the FCID can arrest Wigneswaran and launch an investigation, Gammanpila said.
Meanwhile, he said that while Wigneswaran may escape arrest, he might be arrested on charges of inciting racism, Gammanpila also maintained.
