State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene says the protests in the north would damage reconciliation efforts. 

He added that the government has taken a wide array of initiatives to promote ethnic harmony and reconciliation in the country. The protests staged in Jaffna demanding removal of army camps would not serve for good purpose.  

The State Minister added that the government will never take decisions that would tarnish national security. He also said that the administration cannot meet unfair demands.
