Peradeniya JMO Prabhath Serasinghe gave an open verdict on the death of a suspect in Pussellawa police station after the post mortem which was carried out yesterday.

The suspect was said to have committed suicide between Saturday night and Sunday morning. He was arrested on Saturday evening by the Pussellawa police and was in a cell inthe police station when the death occurred.

The JMO has forwarded body parts of the dead individual to the Government Analyst for further investigations.

The relatives of the dead individual allege that he was assaulted by the police. Two police personnel were suspended over the incident.
