Law and Order Minister Sagala Rathnayake instructed the IGP to install CCTV cameras insice police cells, following reports of deaths of suspects after their arrests.

The police is facing criticism after the recent death of a suspect inside a cell in Pussellawa police station.

The individual, 28-year-old Nadarajah Ravichandran, was arrested on Saturday night. He had committed suicide by hanging using his shirt during the night.

Minister Sagala Rathnayake said that the installment of CCTV cameras will help build trust in the police.
