A group of former LTTE members remembered Rasaiah Parthipan, commonly known as Thileepan, at the remnants of the memorial in Nallur.
Thileepan died on September 26,1987, after a famous hunger strike. He was 23 years old at the time of his death.
The LTTE handed over a set of demands to the Indians on September 13, in the view that India will be more sympathetic to the demands. They called for an end to 'Sinhalese colonization', release of prisoners and halting the establishment of police stations in the north and east among other demands. Thileepan launched a hunger strike on September 15 at the Sri Kandasamy Kovil, Nallur.
